Delhi Govt Announces ₹10 Crore Collateral-Free Loans for Women-Led Startups and SHGs

The Delhi government has announced a major financial support initiative aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs and strengthening the city’s grassroots startup ecosystem. Under the new scheme, women in Delhi will be eligible to receive collateral-free loans of up to ₹10 crore to launch startups and small businesses, with the Delhi government itself providing financial guarantees to banks.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made the announcement while inaugurating the two-day “Mega Self Help Group (SHG) Mela 2026” at Unity One Mall in Rohini West. She described the initiative as part of a broader roadmap to make women financially independent, skilled entrepreneurs, and active contributors to Delhi’s economy.

Government to Back Loans Without Collateral

One of the key highlights of the scheme is that women entrepreneurs and SHGs will be able to access large-scale business funding without pledging property or assets as security. The Delhi government will act as the guarantor for these loans, reducing risk for banks and simplifying access to capital for women-led enterprises.

According to the Chief Minister, the initiative is designed to help women scale businesses confidently without fear of losing personal assets. Banks participating in the initiative were also present at the SHG fair to facilitate direct financial access and simplify loan procedures for entrepreneurs.

Dedicated Market Access for Local and Handmade Products

Alongside the financial announcement, the Delhi government also revealed plans to provide dedicated retail spaces for indigenous and handmade products in major malls and shopping complexes across the capital. The move is intended to help local women entrepreneurs and SHGs reach premium urban markets and strengthen visibility for homegrown brands.

Speaking at the event, Rekha Gupta linked the initiative to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” “Vocal for Local,” and the “One District, One Product” (ODOP) campaign. She said the SHG fair serves as a platform to connect women-led indigenous businesses with modern consumers and organized retail channels.

Push for Swadeshi Products and Women Entrepreneurship

The Chief Minister emphasized the growing contribution of women working through cottage industries, handicrafts, khadi production, and handmade goods. She said women-led micro-enterprises are not only increasing household incomes but also strengthening India’s economy at the grassroots level.

She also urged citizens to support local products instead of relying heavily on foreign brands, stating that Indian handicrafts, khadi products, and handmade goods match global standards in quality and craftsmanship. According to her, stronger branding and digital marketing can help these products compete more effectively in mainstream markets.

‘Monday Metro’ and Sustainability Campaigns Highlighted

During her address, Rekha Gupta also reiterated the Delhi government’s focus on sustainability and fuel conservation. She highlighted initiatives such as “Monday Metro” and “No Vehicle Day,” aimed at encouraging greater use of public transport and reducing fuel consumption in the capital.

She noted that small lifestyle changes, including increased use of public transportation and support for locally made products, could contribute significantly to environmental protection and economic resilience.

SHG Fair Showcases Grassroots Innovation

The Mega SHG Mela featured participation from around 24 self-help groups from different parts of Delhi. Exhibitors showcased a wide range of products including handicrafts, crochet work, khadi items, organic household products, traditional foods, and other handmade goods. Products developed under the ODOP initiative from Northwest Delhi also received strong visitor interest during the exhibition.

The event was attended by MP Yogendra Chandolia, विधायक Kulwant Rana, district officials, banking representatives, and women entrepreneurs associated with SHGs across the region. The event was organized by the Northwest Delhi district administration.
